You've probably noticed the rise to prominence of a new type of online content - the infographic. Infographics are simply graphic representations of data, facts or other knowledge. While infographics are a hot and happening content marketing tool right now, they've actually been around for aeons. The cave paintings of our prehistoric ancestors were information graphics; as were the hieroglyphics of the Ancient Egyptians. Then, they're easy-to-share across social media platforms and provide a pretty cool, fun and funky way to present dry data which would otherwise be unappealing to non-geeks or subject specialists.
